The Thurgood Marshall Airport Terminal A/B Connector project expanded and modernized the facility to support Southwest Airlines’ growing footprint. Led by Clark Construction, the initiative aimed to accommodate increased passenger traffic through a seamless integration with the existing terminal. A primary challenge involved synchronizing structural work with complex mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems under a demanding timeline.

Designers required reliable access to key controls that wouldn't compromise the terminal's sleek, finished aesthetic. By specifying Babcock-Davis access doors, the team secured unobtrusive entry points for maintenance and emergency repairs without disrupting the visual flow. This strategic choice protected the design integrity, kept the schedule on track and ensured streamlined facility operations for years to come.
